Indigenous Work Ready
Indigenous Work Ready Program

Work Ready Australia's Indigenous "Work Ready" Program provides a unique opportunity for the mining and civil industries to engage key community stakeholders and to employ Indigenous Australians in their organisation. The program provides education, training and support tailored to the specific needs of Indigenous groups facilitating an effective springboard for new mobile plant operators into the mining and civil construction industries. The program has been designed in consultation with numerous Indigenous community groups and specialists in the field of Indigenous recruitment, training, development and retention.
he strength of the IWR program lies in the comprehensive nature of its Indigenous work ready strategy which includes being able to deliver outcomes across Indigenous recruitment, selection and retention. The development process of IWR Pty Ltd recognised the need for the program to be culturally inclusive, but in a way that is evidence based and therefore serious about real outcomes for Indigenous Australians. IWR Pty Ltd has aimed to achieve this via developing a comprehensive work ready program for Indigenous people which includes culturally appropriate recruitment strategies, an Indigenous specific assessment centre as well as an innovative focus on culture-specific development programs focusing on the retention of Aboriginal people in the workplace.
The IWR program content is comprehensively Indigenous specific - the culmination of a substantial body of research which has determined an evidence base for effective practice across all program areas. This heavy research focus is aided the substantial practical expertise of the IWR ownership which is two-thirds Indigenous. The combination of theory meets practice ensures that models of effective proactive are a constant focus of the IWR and that Aboriginal people are the ultimate winners
